MA1002: Calculus

This index contains links to lecture notes and other material provided for the course MA1002: Calculus.

Printing

I suggest that even if you only want to print a few pages, you still try the pdf (Adobe's Portable Document Format) which can be viewed and manipulated using Adobe's freely available Acrobat reader, or may well display directly in your browser. In either case, the whole document, or selected pages, can then be printed. This is likely to give much better quality output than printing directly from the web, since the pdf version is based on the original PostScript rather than the derived HTML.

Notes

The contents of the revision notes and the three separate course booklets are available:
* Revision
the review material on co-ordinate geometry, trig functions etc covered in the first week. This is also avalaible in pdf format.
* Differentiation
the first booklet, ``Differential Calculus'', generated from the same source as the printed notes. They are also available in pdf format.
* Integration
the second booklet, ``Integral Calculus'', generated from the same source as the printed notes. They are also available in pdf format.
* Applications
the third booklet,'' Applications of Differentiation'', generated from the same source as the printed notes. They are also available in pdf format.

You are strongly recommended to buy the booklets from the office of the Department of Mathematical Sciences rather than printing out your own copy.

Examination Papers

In principle this section contains copies of all the examination papers that it is technically feasible to process in this way. Although the main examination papers are released, we do not release the resit papers.

Solutions, or solution sketches are often included with the questions. However you should be aware that official solutions are not made available. Many things can cause the solution to be wrong. One such is when the question is changed but the answer file is not updated. In the end you are responsible for ensuring that you understand the solutions and believe them to be correct. If you have problems in doing so, please seek help.

* June 1997

* Jan 1998
